Patrik Oláh won this year’s Neszlényi award

The Department of Music Composition awarded the works of five students.

According to the wishes of Judith Neszlényi, who created the foundation and lives in Los Angeles, a committee of teachers from the Department of Composition awards a HUF 150,000 scholarship each year to the composition student who created the most outstanding piece of music written for an acoustic instrument/instruments during the given academic year. Students could apply with works completed and presented during the 2020/2021 academic year.

The first place – and the scholarship at the same time – Gergő Oláh Patrik (student of Máté Bella) MA II. year student won with his piece called Fission. The prize was presented to the winner at the opening ceremony of the academic year on September 1 by Rector Dr. Andrea Vigh and Head of Department/Vice Rector Gyula Fekete. The jury made up of the department’s teachers singled out four more entries: BA II. year’s work entitled Suite by Matthew Tharappel, TMA student Zoltán Szabó Gergely’s work entitled I…lied….again, MA II. annual Aurés Moussong’s composition entitled Mutable Echoes, as well as Dániel Faragó’s Clausula of MA I.
