This year, the 25-year-old composer from Salgótarján, Oláh Patriko, was recognized in the Innovative Music Project category of the Cziffra Award.
György Cziffra, named after the Ferenc Liszt Prize-winning pianist, has been awarded to young artists every year for nine years now. Oláh Patriko from Salgótarján was awarded in the latest category, i.e. Innovative Music Project. The purpose of creating this recognition is to encourage classical music professionals under the age of thirty to create novel, innovative projects that reflect the changed needs of the age, by addressing the younger age group.

The young composer is currently a student at the Ferenc Liszt Academy. In the second year of his doctoral school, he began his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. In parallel with the university, he applied for the award called Innovative Music Project, where his application was awarded with one million forints gross.
The composer’s plan includes the representation of stereo sound in a concert hall environment, which simply means that the visitor attending the concert can experience the musical pieces with (sometimes) opposite dynamics from several directions without a permanent seat and by constantly changing their position. One of the novelties of the performance is that, as an inverse of the often too long classical concerts, those interested can take part in a “rapid” interactive concert.
The evening was opened by the piano performance of János Balázs, winner of the Kossuth and Ferenc Liszt Prizes, and the chairman of the advisory board of the Cziffra Center. The event was also attended by former President János Áder, Deputy Mayor Krisztina Fonti and Minister of Culture and Innovation János Csák gave a speech. After his speech enlivening Hungarian culture, János Balázs delighted the audience with another piano performance. The second half of the evening ended with a performance by the Hungarian singer Petra Gubik.
